On 14 November 2022, the “Dialogue between Chinese and Thai Gen Zers” was held in Beijing online. This is the second event of the “Asia’s Gen Z Dialogue”, hosted by Global Times Online and the Embassy of China in Thailand, and co-hosted by the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC), the Embassy of Thailand in China, as well as the Global Development Promotion Centre of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, and co-organised by the Shanghai International Studies University. H.E. Mr. Shi Zhongjun, Secretary-General of ACC, H.E. Mr. Arthayudh Srisamoot, Ambassador of Thailand to China, and Mr. Xie Rongbin, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Global Times, delivered speeches and sent messages to the “Generation Z” youth of China and Thailand. Mr. Fang Qiang, Deputy Director of the Information and Public Relations Division of ACC, attended the event online and made concluding remarks.
Mr. Shi Zhongjun said in a video message that ASEAN and China have always been good neighbors, friends and partners. Thailand-China relations are in very good shape. As Asia and the world are facing new opportunities and challenges, it is our hope that the young people of the two countries would strengthen dialogue and communication on issues of shared interest, learn more about each other, and work together to create a better future.
Mr. Arthayudh Srisamoot said in his speech that Thailand and China have maintained sound cooperative relations over the years with frequent exchanges in various fields. This event will promote the understanding and attention of Thai and Chinese youth to each other’s language and culture. He expressed hope that the young people would work together to promote the close cooperation between the two countries.
Mr. Fang Qiang noted that ACC has always been committed to promoting youth exchanges between ASEAN and China, and will continue to connect with and serve the young people of both sides.
At the dialogue, young representatives from Thailand and China discussed the topics of “Promote Shared Prosperity, Industrial Frontier and Cross-Cultural Communication”, and explored how the young people from Thailand and China and other Asian countries could contribute to deepening state-to-state relations, benefiting the people of ASEAN and promoting world peace and development. The participants expressed their willingness to strengthen exchanges and collaboration, and to promote even more fruitful Thailand-China all-round cooperation.
