The year 2023 marks the 20th anniversary of China’s accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) and the 10th anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) proposed by China. In this connection and for the purpose of further promoting friendly relations and practical cooperation between ASEAN and China, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) will co-sponsor ASEAN-China Week 2023 (ACW2023) events in Fuzhou on 5 to 11 August 2023, together with the Foreign Affairs Office of Fujian Provincial Government and the Fuzhou Municipal Government.
ACW2023 consists of such activities as the Themed Forum on a Forward-looking ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) in the New Era, ASEAN-China (Fujian) Forum on Trade and Investment Cooperation, ASEAN-China Symphonic Concert: The Legend of Maritime Silk Road, ASEAN-China Youth Forum, ASEAN-China Gourmet Carnival and ASEAN Film Week @ Fuzhou. Senior government officials, diplomatic envoys and think tank experts from ASEAN and China will be invited to the events.
With profound political mutual trust, productive practical cooperation and closer cultural and people-to-people exchanges between both sides, ASEAN-China relations stand at a new historic starting point. Both sides are striving for better synergy between quality cooperation under the framework of Belt and Road Initiative and ASEAN development strategies, including the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity 2025 (MPAC2025). Both sides have made concerted efforts under the theme of ASEAN-China Year of Agricultural Development and Food Security Cooperation in 2023. Both sides also commit to realizing the ASEAN-China Strategic Partnership Vision 2030 at an early date, through elevated pragmatic cooperation in various fields. The ACC stands ready to make the best of ACW2023 and work with all parties to consistently promote and deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between ASEAN and China.
