On 8 December 2024, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with Ambassador Ma Jia of China to Myanmar in Yangon. Both sides exchanged views on the steps to further enhance ASEAN-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, as well as Myanmar-China relations. Secretary General Shi expressed the willingness on the ACC side, under the framework of ASEAN-China Year of People-to-people Exchanges and the upcoming 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Myanmar and China, to play a more active role in promoting practical cooperation between Myanmar and China in such areas as tourism, agriculture, vocational education, youth and media aligning with the actual needs on the Myanmar side, so as to enrich ASEAN-China comprehensive strategic partnership and contribute to the building of a Myanmar-China community with a shared future.
