On 9 December 2024, Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) met with Deputy Minister U Ko Ko Kyaw for Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of Myanmar in Nay Pyi Taw.
Shi Zhongjun expressed appreciation to the steadfast and sustained support from Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister H.E. U Than Swe for Foreign Affairs and MOFA team to the ACC’s endeavors. He also thanked the Ministry for seconding officials to the ACC. In the purpose of implementing the proposal initiated by Deputy Prime Minister U Than Swe, the ACC has successfully organized the first online course of Chinese training for Myanmar government officials. Looking ahead, the ACC stands ready to further jointly promote practical cooperation with the Ministry to deliver more projects and activities aimed at better serving the growth of Myanmar-China relations, fostering greater amity and enhancing people-to-people exchanges between both countries, as well as between ASEAN and China.
U Ko Ko Kyaw thanked the ACC on behalf of Deputy Prime Minister U Than Swe and underlined the significant role of the ACC-sponsored Chinese training program in enriching the capacity building efforts by the Ministry and better serving Myanmar-China cooperation. The Myanmar side stands ready to support the continued success of such initiatives. Myanmar also attaches great importance to seconding officials to the ACC and remains committed to ensuring their active roles in facilitating closer ASEAN-China ties and strengthening Myanmar-China relations. In the context of China’s strive to advance new quality productive forces, Myanmar looks forward to the ACC, as a platform to strengthen communication and cooperation with China at sub-national levels, for mutual learning and experience sharing so as to promote Myanmar’s industrial transformation, clean energy and green economy toward high-quality and sustainable economic growth.
