On 6 March 2025, the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) organized a field visit to Tianjin Binhai High-tech Industrial Development Area for diplomats from Embassies of ASEAN Member States (AMS) including Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, along with business representatives from the chambers of commerce from AMS in China. The delegation met with the Foreign Affairs Office of Tianjin Municipal People’s Government, visited leading enterprises and exchanged views with Tianjin authorities.
Secretary General Shi Zhongjun of the ACC underlined that ASEAN and China have demonstrated enormous potential and demand for cooperation on industrial transformation and innovative development, particularly in the fields of green energy and bio-medicine. Both ASEAN and China are advancing steadily toward a more sustainable and high-quality future. The ACC will leverage this visit to bridge AMS and Tianjin to promote more practical cooperation in the emerging industries.
Director General Luan Jianzhang of the Foreign Affairs Office of Tianjin Municipal People’s Government warmly welcomed the ACC’s delegation. He encouraged the AMS to grasp the opportunities of high-quality development in Tianjin as well as the High-tech Area. He expected both sides to explore wider areas of cooperation, including new energy and bio-medicine, strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and strive for mutual multifaceted benefits
During the visit, Director General Xia Qinglin of Tianjin Binhai High-tech Industrial Development Area Management Committee introduced the Area’s innovation capacity. Relevant Tianjin authorities also presented comprehensive information on the city’s industrial base, business environment and opening-up policy. The AMS delegates introduced their trade and investment policies and exchanged views with Tianjin on the ongoing projects and the prospects of further exploring the ASEAN market.
